In-home displays

The Victorian Government’s Energy Saver Incentive scheme currently subsidises in-home displays, giving customers access to real-time information about their energy consumption.

Smart meters enable consumers for the first time to take a detailed look at exactly when and how they are using electricity.

Interactive devices such as in-home displays provide information about hourly, daily, weekly and seasonal consumption, so we can view our energy usage as we go.

Worldwide trials have shown these devices have helped households reduce their electricity use by between 5 and 15 per cent by allowing you to monitor your electricity consumption, providing detailed information about how much energy you're using, and when (and how much you’ve used in the past).

If your home has a smart meter installed and correctly configured, an in-home display can be installed to gather your electricity usage data from your meter over a secure wireless connection.

Businesses that are able to offer devices to households under the Energy Saver Incentive scheme are being encouraged to sign-up with the Essential Services Commission.
